1. What we do — and what we don't
Rebate Checker is a free comparison and referral service. We ask you a short set of questions, estimate which federal and state solar and battery incentives may apply at your address, and — with your consent — introduce you to accredited installers who can quote.
We are not a government agency. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of the Clean Energy Regulator, the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, any state government scheme, or any energy retailer or network operator.
We do not sell, supply, design, install or service solar panels, batteries or any other equipment. We do not lodge rebate claims on your behalf. We are not a licensed electrical contractor and we do not provide financial, energy, tax or legal advice.
2. Rebate estimates are indicative only
Any figure shown on this site is an indicative estimate generated from the answers you give. It is not a quote, an offer, an approval, or a guarantee of any amount.
Estimates are modelled on assumptions that change without notice, including:
- the market price of small-scale technology certificates (STCs), which fluctuates daily;
- the federal certificate rate per kWh of battery capacity, which steps down each calendar year;
- your CER solar zone rating and deeming period, which depend on your postcode and install date;
- state and territory scheme rules, caps and funding availability, which can change or close at any time;
- the system size an installer actually recommends after inspecting your property.
The rebate you ultimately receive is determined by the relevant scheme administrator and your installer, and may be materially higher or lower than the estimate shown — or nil. Always rely on a written quote from an accredited installer, not on this tool.
3. Your eligibility and obligations
To use this service you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- be the owner of the property you enter, or be authorised to act for the owner;
- be located in Australia and enter a valid Australian address;
- provide accurate, current and complete information, including a phone number and email address you own and are entitled to give us.
Rebates under these schemes are claimed by the property owner. If you rent, we cannot arrange quotes for you. Submitting false or third-party details without authority is a breach of these Terms.
4. Installer referrals
Where you qualify, we pass your enquiry to a maximum of three installers or retailers accredited under Solar Accreditation Australia.
Each installer is an independent business. Any quote, contract, installation, warranty, workmanship or after-sales service is solely between you and that installer. We are not a party to it and we are not their agent. We do not guarantee that any installer will contact you, quote, or be able to service your area.
While we select partners on the basis of accreditation and conduct, we do not warrant the quality, pricing, timeliness or suitability of any installer's goods or services, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions. Satisfy yourself independently before signing anything.
5. Fees and how we are paid
The service is free to you. We are paid a referral or marketing fee by partner installers when we introduce an enquiry, and in some cases when that enquiry results in a sale. This fee does not increase the price you pay.
Our commercial arrangements may influence which installers we introduce you to. We do not compare every installer, product or rebate available in the market, and our results are not a recommendation that a particular installer or system is the best choice for you.
6. Contact consent
By submitting the form you expressly consent to us and up to three accredited installers contacting you by phone, SMS and email about solar and battery quotes, including by automated dialling and messaging systems. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
This consent applies even if your number is on the Do Not Call Register, and continues until you withdraw it. You can withdraw it at any time — reply STOP to any SMS, use the unsubscribe link in any email, tell a caller to stop, or email hello@localrebate.com. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
7. Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, layout, graphics, logos, code and the rebate calculation logic — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by Australian and international copyright law. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, scrape, frame, resell or create derivative works from any part of the site without our written permission.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- submit false, misleading or automated entries, or someone else's details without their authority;
- use bots, scrapers or any automated means to access, harvest or overload the site;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its systems or its data;
- introduce malicious code, or interfere with the site's operation or security;
- use the service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any Australian law.
We may refuse, suspend or terminate access, and delete submissions, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.
9. Third-party links and content
This site links to and relies on third-party sources and services, including government and industry publications and Google mapping and advertising services. We do not control that content and are not responsible for its accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
10. Liability and consumer guarantees
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- the site and its estimates are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied;
- we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on a rebate estimate, from any dealing with an installer, or from any inability to access the site;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, savings, data, opportunity or goodwill, however caused;
- where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited at our option to re-supplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.
11. Indemnity
You indemnify us against any claim, loss, cost or liability we suffer arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the site, or your submission of inaccurate or unauthorised information — except to the extent it was caused by our own negligence or breach.
12. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you use the service is the version that applies. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts. If any provision is found unenforceable, it is severed and the remainder continues in force.
